How Often Should I Exfoliate My Face

Beautiful skin requires effort. When we look in the mirror and see lines, spots, marks on the nose and cheeks, we remember the importance of asking how often should I exfoliate my face. Many of us don’t exfoliate or even worse overdo it with exfoliation which causes other problems. The answer is simple and we should all follow it!

How Often Should I Exfoliate My Face

How Often Should I Exfoliate My Face

The debate about how often a person should exfoliate is very common among dermatologists, but Dr. Joshua Zeichner suggests being careful and exfoliating only two or three times a week. “Excessive exfoliation can lead to inflammation of the skin, leaving your skin red and irritated rather than soft and shiny,” he explains. If you have sensitive skin, make sure you use very mild exfoliate. If your skin is thicker or greaser, resist the temptation to rub it and instead, use gentle, circular motions to remove the dead cells.

But what about the rest of our body? The skin covers the human body from the top to the nails and constantly eliminates dead cells at a rate of up to 50,000 per minute!

The problem is that sometimes these dead skin cells do not fall but accumulate and clog the pores of the skin, which they give a rough texture. That is why it is important to scrub all over your body and not just your face. Exfoliating throughout the body can help prevent body acne at many areas like under your neck, the chest, your back and hands. It can also help you not to develop pimples on the skin because the hair that grows under the skin can not surface since the dead skin cells block them.

So how often should I exfoliate my face? Regarding how often you need to exfoliate, most experts agree that two or three times a week are enough. If your skin is very sensitive, it is good to do it even more rarely. Keep in mind that the purpose of exfoliating is simply to remove the dead skin cells. You should not rub the skin too hard or too often. If you do, you are likely to pull out healthy cells as well, which could leave your skin red and irritated.

Regardless of the materials you can use to exfoliate, just make sure you do not overdo it. Two or three times a week is enough.

Make yourself a blend to exfoliate your face, utilizing the following “magic” recipe with 3 ingredients you already have in your kitchen.

What you will need:

  • Oats
  • Baking soda
  • Lemon juice

Instructions:
Place 1/4 of a cup of oats into a small bowl. Oats peel lightly. Then, add 1 tbsp of baking soda, which deeply cleans pores and removes dead cells. Then put 1 cl lemon juice, which acts as natural antibacterial and gives glow to the skin. Mix them and begin exfoliating.
