16 Jul What’s The Difference Between Dry And Dehydrated Skin?
I’m always trying to understand my skin to keep it looking fresh and vibrant. Even though my skin was oily when I was a kid, it’s been feeling really dry lately. Then I heard it might even be dehydrated too. I thought only my body could get dehydrated, so I did a little research. Whats is the difference between dry and dehydrated skin?
This is what I found out: symptoms of dry skin and dehydrated skin can be easily mistaken for each other. But there are some differences to keep an eye out for.
Dry skin is a type of skin that some people may have. Dehydrated skin is a condition that anyone can have. I remember when I was young, there was normal, oily or dry skin—mine was oily so of course I had lots of pimples! But now it’s dry and dry skin lacks oil or lipids.
My skin has felt dry when it’s been exposed to dry weather conditions, hot water, and certain chemicals. I always feel the dryness on my face and body when it’s winter in the city and it gets really cold and dry.
Though this hasn’t happened to me, dry skin can also result from underlying medical conditions.
Are you feeling dehydrated?
Dehydrated skin lacks water. Since dehydrated skin can affect all skin types, it’s possible to suffer from dehydrated skin and dry skin at the same time.
So how can I tell the difference between dry and dehydrated skin?
My skin feels dehydrated when I’m wearing too much make up and I don’t use the right products to take it off. But here’s where it gets tricky: When my skin is dehydrated, it creates more oil to make up for the missing water.
This has caused breakouts, irritation and dry patches on my skin. My skin can even feel oily and dry at the same time. It has even feel tight and rough at times. This hasn’t happened to me yet, but if skin shows fine lines, looks dull or has sagging skin and wrinkles, it can be dehydrated. When my skin is really dry, it can look flaky, dry and also feel rough. Why can my skin feel dehydrated?
There can be many reasons. For me, it could be that I didn’t use sunscreen or I’ve been drinking. I hear it can also be because of aging, but I’m going to try and ignore that one! It can also feel that way because of changing hormones, heating / air conditioning in my home or not drinking enough water—which always happens when I’m super busy or in a hurry.
I’ve also noticed that my skin feels dehydrated when I apply moisturizer , which doesn’t make sense. But apparently it doesn’t penetrate my skin deeply enough.
The Take Away
The best products that I will be trying are black caviar creams! The cell structure of caviar is very similar to the structure of human skin cells enabling the extract to deliver the highly potent caviar extract molecules to the deepest level of the skin and reverse the aging process. Caviars boast a maximized concentration of lipids and fatty acids—to help restore the skin’s external barrier with essential skin lipids and provide 24 hours of hydration for dry skin.
I will be quenching my skin’s thirst with caviar creams. No more sagging, dried up skin for me! No more wondering the difference between dry and dehydrated skin!
